HellermannTyton's rack mount fiber enclosures are the ideal direct termination and splice solution of LAN applications capable of supporting up to 144 fibers. While offering easy-to-use front slide-out trays for easy access to connections, enclosures are equipped with cable management and cable routing accessories to limit bend radius and add strain relief control.

1. GENERAL

1.1 SCOPE

This specification covers fiber optic enclosure products used in data/communications wiring installations. The fiber optic enclosure products shall consist of wall mount fiber enclosures and rack mount fiber enclosures.

1.2 CLASSIFICATION AND USE

Fiber optic enclosures are to be utilized in dry interiors.

1.3 SUBMITTALS


1.3.1 SHOP DRAWINGS
For installations, submit drawings for approval showing the complete layout of all products that make up the complete system for each floor prior to installation with the number and types of fiber optic enclosures.

1.3.2 AS BUILT DRAWINGS
If variations from approved shop drawings occur during the installation of the system, final, as built drawings, shall be submitted for each floor that has been altered.

2. PRODUCT

2.1 MANUFACTURER
The fiber optic enclosures specified herein for data/communications wiring installations shall be the fiber optic enclosures manufactured by HellermannTyton. Other manufacturer’s systems may be considered equal if, in the opinion, and the written approval of the engineer, they meet all the performance standard specified herein.

2.2 MATERIALS
The fiber optic enclosure products are equipped with cable management and cable routing accessories to limit bend radius and add strain relief control. These rugged fiber optic enclosures can accommodate splicing and direct termination of fiber optic enclosures. Material and work specified herein shall comply with the applicable requirements of ANSI/TIA/EIA – 568-B - Telecommunications Cabling Standard.

2.2.1 WALL MOUNT FIBER OPTIC ENCLOSURES
The wall mount fiber enclosures provide a termination solution for LAN applications requiring fully enclosed and lockable wall mount enclosures. Designed to support up to two to four modular adapter panels for 12, 16, 24 or 36 strand fiber terminations.

2.2.2 RACK MOUNT FIBER OPTIC ENCLOSURES
The rack mount fiber enclosures are designed to be easily mounted on standard 19" or 23" relay racks. These enclosures are the ideal direct termination and splice solution for LAN applications, supporting up to 96 fibers. The enclosures are available in 1U, 2U and 4U sizes. The 1U enclosure has a unique swing out tray while the 2U and 4U enclosures have fitted hinged front and back panels. Both styles provide easy access to the fiber.

2.2.2.1 SPLICE TRAY
HellermannTyton offers a 7" fiber splice tray to organize and protect 12 fusion splices for rack mount enclosures. A removable cover protects the splices while the smooth radiused side design helps to prevent damage to fibers when routing.

2.2.2.2 FIBER OPTIC ADAPTER PANELS HellermannTyton offers several panels with various adapters including ST, SC, MTRJ and LC. Assembled with industry standard adapters for single mode and multimode applications. The fiber optic adapter panels easily snap into the
enclosures with snap lock mounting fixtures. Panels are available with 3, 6 or 8 adapters.

3. EXECUTION

3.1 INSTALLATION
Prior to and during installation, refer to the system layout drawing or installation instructions containing all elements of the system. Work shall include furnishing all fiber optic enclosures to install a system as indicated on the data/communications drawings and in the specification. Installer shall comply with detailed manufacturer’s instruction sheets, which accompany the fiber optic enclosures.
